Why should anyone take (or fund) university degrees in humanities? Well, these two guys met while doing degrees in philosophy at the well-known party school, University of Wisconsin, Madison. Now the one on the left teaches teenagers at a school in urban Milwaukee how to read. Many of them have brain damage from lead poisoning, all of them have learning issues, but some of them become literate because of him. The guy on the right got recruited after finishing a PhD in semantics to help figure out what effect NATO policy had in the then-recent Balkan war (after the break up of Yugoslavia) and has been helping people figure out the answer to political science (and statistics) questions every since.
