Well, we were in Stephansplatz at midnight but if there were any bells we couldn't hear them because of all the fireworks people were shooting off, and nobody waltzed! It was fun, but next year we'll have to find out where / if the waltzing really happens & maybe be somewhere a little less crowded.
Before that we had dinner at our favourite Thai/Japanese place in the Naschmarkt, and then we went to see a silent movie (with German titles, but it we were able to understand most of it) with a really great live accompaniment -- a quartet with two synthesizers, occasional vocals, a fantastic drum set (great cymbals!) and a bassist. The music was fantastic and the film was also really fun. It was set in Berlin in 1929, about beauty, wealth and corruption.
