Free Burma!

I would be skeptical that web stuff helps, but the international news does tend to report the number of people who do things like this. A UK bank backed down on charging fees to students right after they graduated after newspapers started publishing the number of people on the facebook group (which also had info about which banks to switch to, which may have been the bigger issue!) Similarly, this isn't just about showing numbers, but it does also help spread information.

It's interesting Burma is called Burma again by the left -- all of the sudden! I guess the monks have pointed out that the name was changed by the people they are disagreeing with.

Last weekend I was in Minneapolis for a meeting of the Peace Fellowship Board. Friday night we had a Burmese dinner prepared by some refugees in St. Paul. They are the largest Karen community outside of Burma. They also showed a video about the group they came from Freedom Rangers, who give medical care and support to villagers who have to flee their homes when the army attacks. Unfortunately, the news since we got back indicated that the Burmese army is still slaughtering this group.
